Tangled Party Invitations

If you're going to invite the entire kingdom to your royal party, you'll need to send some very fancy invitations. Flynn, Rapunzel and Pascal are at your service!

Party Food 

I wanted to incorporate as much of the theme as I could so I went to purchase the boat set from Wal-mart and I let the boat float in the kool-aid and used a picture off the internet to tape to the pack of the  container to show the scene in the movie where the lanterns were floating in the sky while they were on the boat. If you purchase this set and want it to float do NOT put anything besides the two characters in the boat.  This is taken right before it sunk to the bottom of the kool-aid because I added the lanterns that were in the box onto the boat so it will only float with the two people in it.

  

We used a local bakery to do our cake and I purchased the figures off amazon.com.  The cupcake toothpick designs came from a vendor selling templates off  https://www.etsy.com/  
I think they were around $10.00- $13.00 for the templates.  You print and cut your own from home.  The tower we had a really hard time doing as you can tell it's leaning a little and the chocolate is melting down the sides, but it was a really hot day in August.  Welcome to the South.  Haha!

I loved the skillet idea, but only had one so I did the grapes for the adults and children to  snack on before we ate.  If you have a lot of skillets though it looks really good to serve all *the food in them.  A lot of ideas I got from the internet came from https://ohamanda.com/ 

I used pizza to cut down on my costs.  

To get these small toothpick designs I used the first page off the same template design that I got for the banner.  I cut them out and glued them over the toothpick to create a smaller version to still keep the same theme of my party where they were on the water viewing the lanterns.  You can pour the jello in cups and make it smooth all the way across, but I used plastic cups from the local Dollar store and couldn't do that.  So I made the jello first then cut into squares and put into all the cups.  Then I cut up orange slices to represent the boat and flags on top of that.  Here it is again.

Pascal Cupcakes

Pascal is a colorful little chameleon whose mood and color can change in the blink of an eye. These cupcakes are designed to look like Pascal in his many different moods, but no matter which expression you choose to decorate him with, you're sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who sees these sweet treats!

You'll need:

• 12 cupcakes, baked from your favorite recipe and cooled
• 1 can white frosting
• Food coloring (red, blue, and green)
• Easy Frost icing in white, red, green, and blue (use with round tip attached)
• 12 yellow gumdrops, such as Dots
• 24 chocolate chips
• 24 black rainbow-chip crunch decorator sprinkles, such as Wilton brand
• Red and blue fruit roll-ups, such as Fruit by the Foot

Instructions: 
1. Divide the frosting into 3 small bowls. Add 5-10 drops of food coloring to each bowl. You will have red, blue, and green bowls of icing. Continue stirring and adding food coloring until you reach the desired shade. You will need at least 10 drops of the red, as the white frosting tends to turn pink.

2. Frost the cupcakes, making four of each color.

3. Use the white Easy Frost icing to create two large white circles of frosting for eyes.

4. Cut the gumdrops in half, and press a chocolate chip, pointy side down, into the sticky side of each gumdrop. Press these into the white frosting circles as Pascal's iris and pupil.
5. Place two rainbow-chip decorator sprinkles into the frosting below Pascal's eyes -- these will be his nostrils.
6. Create the crest on the top of Pascal's head using the Easy Frost icing. In coordinating colors, draw a line of frosting from between the eyes up to the top of the cupcake.
7. Use a toothpick to draw on Pascal's mouth. To make the happy, green Pascal, draw a smile; to make the angry, red Pascal, draw a frown; and for the sad, blue Pascal, draw a straight line.

8. Finally, blue and red Pascal should have eyelids. These make him look angry or sad. Cut small half circles from the fruit rolls. You will need 8 red and 8 blue. Place a fruit roll eyelid over each eye. For angry, red Pascal tilt them toward the center, for sad, blue Pascal place them straight, in the center of the eye.

Rapunzel's Squash & Hazelnut Soup

When mother Gothel wants to give Rapunzel a treat, she makes her favorite meal -- Hazelnut soup. This wholesome squash soup, topped with roasted hazelnuts, is sure to be a favorite in your home. If you're hosting a Tangled-themed party, this soup is a crowd-pleaser, especially if you set up a soup "bar" with lots of tasty toppings like chives, bacon bits, and chopped hazelnuts!

Ingredients for the soup:

• 2 lb butternut squash, seeded and cut into 6 sections
• 1 lb parsnips, peeled and roughly chopped
• 1 green apple, peeled, cored, and quartered
• 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
• 3-4 sprigs fresh thyme
• 1 medium brown onion, thinly sliced
• 4 cups of chicken stock, divided
• 1/2 teaspoon cumin
• 1/2 cup heavy cream
• Salt and white pepper to taste
• 1 cup raw hazelnuts (for topping)

To Roast Hazelnuts:
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F

1. Place 1 cup of raw Hazelnuts on a parchment lined baking sheet.

2. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes, or until the hazelnut skins burst.

3. Remove from oven and let cool. When cool enough to handle, roll hazelnuts between paper towels to remove skins. Place skinless hazelnuts into a small plastic bag and crush using a rolling pin.

For Soup:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
4. Line a baking dish with parchment paper and drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil on top.

5. Arrange butternut squash in the baking dish, skin side up. Scatter chopped parsnip and apple quarters around the squash. Top with a few sprigs of fresh thyme. Pour a quarter cup of water into the baking dish.

6. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until a knife slides easily through the skin of the squash.

7. Remove the baking dish from the oven and throw away the sprigs of thyme. Set aside to cool.

8. Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium low heat. Add thinly sliced onion and half a teaspoon of salt to the pan and sauté slowly about 10 minutes, or until the onions are soft and translucent, but not browned. Turn off the heat.

9. When squash is cool enough to handle, use a paring knife to peel the skin from the butternut squash, discarding the skins. Place the peeled squash into the bowl of a food processor. Pulse into a smooth purée, about 20 seconds. Pour purée into a large stockpot or Dutch oven.

10. Place roasted parsnips, apple and sautéed onion into the bowl of the food processor. Add 1 cup of the chicken stock. Purée 20-30 seconds, or until smooth. If the purée is too dry, thin it using an additional half cup of chicken stock.
Note: Do not fill a food processor more than half full with hot liquids. Doing so could result in the top or bottom of the food processor bowl blowing off due to pressure.
11. Add puréed parsnip and onion mixture to the squash in the stockpot. Add the remaining chicken stock to the pot and raise the heat to medium high. Bring soup to a boil and then reduce heat to simmer.
12. While soup is simmering add a half teaspoon of ground cumin, as well as salt and white pepper to taste. Before serving, stir in a half cup of heavy cream.
13. Serve in bowls or insulated cups and top with the crushed roasted hazelnuts. 

3-D Rapunzel Paper craft

Rapunzel's healing powers are strong enough to turn any frown upside down. She wants to see the world, so take her with you on journeys near and far!

Instructions: 
Print out your princess on regular paper or cardstock. Cut out each piece with a craft knife or scissors. Do not cut along the dashed lines -- this is where you will fold the paper.

1. Line up Rapunzel's back with her torso and glue them together so that the design is now two-sided. After the glue has dried, fold the bottom part of Rapunzel's torso towards you along the purple dashed line. Then, fold Rapunzel's face away from you along the dashed line across her shoulders.
2. Take Rapunzel's chest piece and fold along each dashed line. Make each fold away from you. Glue the G tab and F tab to the back, white side of Rapunzel's chest.
3. Spread glue on the H tab of Rapunzel's chest and press it into place on the H area on Rapunzel's torso. Make sure her shoulders are lined up correctly.
4. After the glue dries, add glue to the I, J, K, and L tabs and press them into place. Hold the pieces together until the glue dries. You may need to use a pen or pencil inside her chest area to position the tabs just right.
5. Fold each of Rapunzel's arms and glue them so that the design is two-sided. Make sure they are lined up before the glue dries. Attach the arms to each side of Rapunzel's body under each shoulder by gluing the E tab to the E area and D tab to the D area.
6. Cut slits in the top of the skirt along the grey lines, opposite of where you fold each A tab. Fold each of the dashed lines at the top of the skirt and each A tab away from you. Starting from left to right with the purple side of the skirt facing you, glue each A tab to the back of the skirt piece next to it to create pleats.
7. When you are finished gluing the A tabs you may find it easier to glue the C tab to the inside of the skirt before gluing the final B tab pleat.
8. Finally, attach Rapunzel's completed torso to her skirt by gluing the white side of the tabs at her waist to the top of the skirt over the areas labeled K and L. The crease on the skirt should be in the back. 

3-D Pascal Paper craft

Instructions: 

Print the template and color Pascal any way you'd like. Do not color the grey shaded tabs.

1. Cut out Pascal's head and body, and make folds along all dotted lines.
2. Using glue or tape, assemble Pascal's head, starting with the "A" tabs and progressing in alphabetical order. Repeat for Pascal's body, and close his body by sticking the two sides of his tail together.
3. Attach Pascal's head to his body by lining up the shaded area at the back of his head with the front of his body. Secure with glue or tape.

This Movie had just came out a few months before her birthday and there were hardly and decorations to do a party.  I don't have a whole lot of spare time to make decorations so I started on the plans for her birthday party 6 months before the date of the party and researched all I could find on ideas for this party.  I found only a couple of websites helpful.  I had to make almost everything for this party right down to the party favors.

I used the paper lanterns you buy at our local Hobby Lobby store to hang up in the shelter. They were around 10 dollars for a pack of three. I taped some of the images off the internet to the lanterns to match the theme.  You could also have the kids decorate their own lanterns as well.  You can find the lanterns at amazon.com or www.orientaltrading.com 

To decorate the shelter I purchased a roll of yellow yarn and ran in throughout all of the beams to decorate the shelter.  I used about 40 to 50 strings to make it a little thick.  I draped it in and out of the beams and ran it down one end of the poles and let it hang down to show the end of her hair to the kids.  I wanted to create the scene in the movie where she was climbing throughout the top of the tower and wrapped her hair around all the beams so she could brush her hair.  This was not an easy task I have a house with an open floor plan with stairs in the middle of the house.  So I tied a knot around the banister and walked around my house fifty different times.  So I do suggest that you have someone help you with this one so it won't take so long.  Try going outside in the yard and have one person hold the ends and the other person can walk across the yard cut the yarn at the desired length needed.  This would be a great time for the kids to get some exercise.  I don't have a better picture of this part of the decorations I'm afraid, but you get the idea.  

For or the banner I used a template and cut them out and used two each so I could have a front and a back so the while wouldn't show.  It didn't show here because I had something behind it, but if you are going to use it to hang up on the ceiling or somewhere else that the back can be seen, you might want to glue the front and back together before punching your holes in for the ribbons to be ran     through. To add a few centerpieces to the tables I used a vase and put yellow and purple skittles in them.  

I set the tables up with everything they needed and ready to go.  For the early arrivals I had a waiting table for them to play at and do some crafts.  The craft table was set up with a coloring book, crayons, and some jewels to glue on foam shaped crowns.  This kept the kids entertained until all of the guest arrived.  I found a picture of Pascal off the internet from the scene in the movie where he was playing hide and seek and was hiding behind a flower pot and I taped those pictures onto paper pots.  I printed the pages out from a link on the internet and I shrunk them down to the size I wanted then punched holes for the string to hold them together.  How to Make a Tangled  Hairbow Holder

                                                 

You Will Need:

1-Flowers of your choice
2-Medium size barretts
3-Hot Glue Gun
4-Ribbon
5-Craft Ring
6-Ribbon
7-Yarn

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Measure and cut 42 (3-yard) strands of the yarn. Tie a short piece of yarn around the center of the strands to bundle them. 
2. Lay the center of the bundle on the inner ring of a 4-inch embroidery hoop, spreading out the yarn so that it covers most of the ring (A).
3.Fit the loosened outer ring over the inner ring to secure the yarn (B), and tighten the hoop's screw.
4. Flip the hoop over and let the yarn cascade over the hoop, hiding it (C). Braid the entire length of the yarn. Tie ribbons around the yarn at the base of the hoop and the end of the braid. Hang the hoop from its tightening screw and add your hair accessories.  

 

Tangled Theme Party Games

I love the Pin the tail on the donkey game so every year I get creative and have the game match our themed party.  Here I printed out this picture after I colored it on the internet and put it on the tree at the party.  It would've have looked much better if we had painted the board, but we honestly ran out of time to get it done.  You can find the picture and color it on the following link:

Party Favors
  

I had so much fun with the party theme that I went a little overboard on the favors.  So the kids had plenty of choices. I used foam sheets from the dollar  tree and made different color  Pascal party blowers and drew faces on them with some dollar tree eyes.  They turned out so adorable.  

The pascal blowers can have solid pink or red blowers for the tongue.  I went to the local Dollar Store and purchase all my supplies to save money. Our local Dollar Store had every one of these items so I didn't spend but around $8.00 for 24 party blowers.

You will need the following supplies:

1. Pink or red party blowers (I used random blowers and took the design cardboard off of them). 
2. Googly eyes any size (I used medium here)
3. One sheet of each Red, Green & Blue Poster Board
4. White Cardstock paper (I used regular copy paper)
5. Red foam sheets
6. Hot Glue
7. Scissors
8. Black Permanent Magic Marker 

                                                                                 
Instructions:
Print the template and cut out the pieces. 

1. Trace the templates onto the paper side of the colored adhesive-backed foam.
2. When cutting out Pascal's head, trace the template onto the craft foam and cut it out. For the second side of Pascal's head, use the cut foam head as the template instead of the paper. Place the paper-backed side of the head against the paper-backed side of the foam and trace around it. This will ensure that the adhesive sides of the head will match.
3. Each Pascal party blower will require two heads (cut from the green, blue, or red foam), two eyes (cut from white foam), and two inner-eyes (cut from yellow foam).  
4. The red and the blue Pascal party blowers require eyelids. Simply use the eye template to cut circles from the red and blue craft foam and then cut them in half, creating two half-circle eyelids.
5. Once you have all of your pieces cut, remove the adhesive backing from the yellow circles and place them onto the white circles. Remove the backing from the white circles and place these on Pascal's head. Tilt the eyelids down for angry, red Pascal. Lay the eyelids straight for sad, blue Pascal.
6. Now draw the details using the black marker.  Add a mouth, pupils, and eyebrows.  
7. Remove the adhesive backing from one side of Pascal's head.  Lay the party blower on the adhesive with the pink end hanging off the foam.  
8. Remove the adhesive backing from the second half of Pascal's head and carefully lay that on top of the blower. Press to seal the adhesive around the blower. Trim to even any un-matched foam around Pascal's head. 

 

I used the Disney Shrink Charms Printables for these necklaces.  I couldn't find the materials to make the shrink charms so I just printed them out on card stock paper and punched holes in them and used string and yarn to make necklaces for the kids to wear.  charms 

I made Maximus Flags for the boys.  I printed out a picture of him on the internet and punched holes in the top and the bottom and put it on a wooden dowel.

These Rapunzel Princess crowns turned out really cute for all the girls. They were a big hit.  I made three different kinds of crowns.  My daughter loves pink so I made a few with the pink in them, but I really liked the silver and gold ones a lot better.  See picture below

 You'll need:

• Rapunzel's Crown template
• Scissors
• Scrapbook paper, silver or gray and white (embossed or a sparkly patterned paper looks especially nice)
• Glue stick
• Clear faux gems
• Glue dots

Instructions:

1. Print the template and cut out the pieces. Use the pieces as patterns to cut out the shapes from the specified colors of paper.

2. Glue the crown and ornament pieces atop their bases.

3. Glue the ornaments to the front of the crown piece. Then embellish the crown with lots of faux gems.
4. To complete the crown, fashion a matching headband by gluing a 1.25- by 11-inch strip of white paper atop a 1.5- by 11-inch strip of silver or gray paper. Use glue dots to attach the ends of the headband to the sides of the decorated crown, as shown, adjusting the length to fit your child's head.
  

After I made these, they have now come up with a template that has already been colored.  So if you do not want to make your own color scheme and want to just print them out here is another one for you:

Instructions:

Print the crown on regular paper or cardstock and cut it out. Glue the tabs at each end of the crown to the ends of the back strap to fit the crown on your princess.

                                      

To keep the costs down on Take Home Party Favors I just picked up several packs of 8 clear plastic cups and some purple crinkled paper at the local Dollar Store.  They also had these Tangled Stamps there as well.  I had to go to Wal-mart to pick up the suckers, candy packs, stickers, and clear bags.  I purchased castle suckers and tied some yellow yarn at the ends of the sticks and braided it like Rapunzel's hair and tied a purple ribbon to it.  After I filled the bags I tied purple balloon ribbon on the outside of the bags and used a 2" hole punch to cut out scenes from the movie that I printed off the internet so I could add that to the ribbon to finish off the party favor to match my theme.

Flynn Frying Pan Necklace

You'll Need:

1-Lid from a baby food jar (or similar sized jar)
2-Black tissue paper
3-Mod-Podge
4-Black chenille stem
5-Hot glue
6-whatever you want for the string (I used black cord)
7-Two pieces of thin ribbon, each 2-inches long
8-Paintbrush
9-Glittery jewel decal, rhinestone, flower, etc

 Instructions: 
1. Spread a thin layer of Mod-Podge over the top of the baby food lid. Place torn pieces of black tissue paper onto Mod-Podge and let dry. Continue to layer the Mod-Podge and tissue paper until the entire lid is covered, inside and out. Be sure to allow each layer to dry (approximately 15 minutes) before adding the next.

2. When the lid is covered in black tissue and completely dry, it's time to add the handle. Cut a chenille stem in half and then fold one half into a loop. Twist the ends together and glue onto the back of the pan.

3. Use a dot of hot glue to add a jewel decal to the center of the pan.
4. To make the chain, start by tying the yellow yarn and two pieces of ribbon together. Use the yarn and ribbons to make a tight braid -- the yellow yarn is one section and each ribbon is its own section. When you have reached the end of the braid, slide it through the frying pan's handle and tie the two ends of the braid together. Be sure that the necklace is large enough to fit over the head of the child who will wear it.

Sorry for the wonky lines....  Every paragraph seem to do it's own thing and I got aggravated trying to figure it out and straighten all the lines.  I gave up.  It's my 1st post I will work on figuring this whole blog thing out.  Ha!
